Protest Action in Front of Government Residences
“We want to meet with Mr. Pashinyan, talk to him, see what he says, and understand what we will do, which way we will go. If there is no money, let them temporarily provide us with housing, rentals, but they are ignoring us,” say former residents of the demolished houses on Ekmalyan Street, who are currently holding a protest in front of government residences on Proshyan Street.
“We will come here every morning until we are received... Let them hold a meeting and resolve the Ekmalyan issue. If those who deceive us are not punished, we will punish them ourselves. We fought for Nikol Pashinyan to be elected; now why is he not thinking about the people?” complained the residents.
It is worth noting that former residents of Ekmalyan have been fighting for compensation for their residences for 15 years. In 2006, the apartments of the people living at that address were demolished for state needs, and although they have contracts related to that transaction, they have yet to receive anything in return. The deceived residents state that they have lived off their own resources for 15 years, and now it is the government's turn; they are waiting for its actions.
