Pashinyan Receives Shoigu: Discussion Topics Between Allied Nations Representatives

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General Sergei Shoigu, and his accompanying delegation today, October 29. This information was reported by the government's press service.

Welcoming the Russian Defense Minister, Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the strategic relations between Armenia and Russia, noting that the frequent meetings between the highest leadership of Armenia and Russia and the continuously deepening cooperation in various fields testify to the dynamic development of Armenian-Russian partnership.

Emphasizing that cooperation in the defense sector contributes to the strengthening of stability and security in the region, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the ongoing military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries and noted that the visit of the Russian Defense Minister will contribute to its further expansion.

The Russian Defense Minister thanked for the warm reception and noted that the allied cooperation in the defense sector between Armenia and Russia is developing actively and effectively. Sergei Shoigu expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Armenian Ministry of Defense and emphasized the importance of today’s signing of the cooperation program between the Ministries of Defense of Armenia and Russia for 2020 in the context of further development.

Nikol Pashinyan and Sergei Shoigu exchanged views on the development of strategic relations between Armenia and Russia, the further deepening of cooperation in military-technical areas, issues related to regional and international security, as well as the situation in Syria, including the ongoing humanitarian Armenian mission.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Russian Defense Minister also addressed the joint activities related to the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1945.
