Who is Supporting the Head of the NSS Investigative Department, Mikayel Hambardzumyan? Noteworthy Details
According to the newspaper 'Zhamanak', a few days ago, several media outlets aligned with the former authorities have been actively circulating news that, in the near future, Mikayel Hambardzumyan, the head of the NSS Investigative Department, could be appointed as the director of the NSS by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
However, this appointment seems almost unlikely, as Hambardzumyan has been one of the most corrupt instruments of the former authorities. Additionally, he is considered a representative of the Karabakh clan. Hambardzumyan's sister is the daughter-in-law of Marat Musayelyan, the former head of the staff of the president of Nagorno-Karabakh and the former secretary of the Security Council.
He has always been supported by him. This patronage also played a role back in 2007-2008, when the former NSS director Gorik Hakobyan wanted to dismiss Hambardzumyan from his position, as at that time he was still an investigator. Without informing Gorik Hakobyan, Hambardzumyan had closed the case of the former prosecutor's son at the direction of Aghvan Hovsepyan.
At that time, a dismissal order for Mikayel Hambardzumyan had already been prepared, but following a call from Karabakh, not only was Hambardzumyan not dismissed, but he was also immediately appointed as the deputy head of the NSS Investigative Department.
