The Preventive Measure for the Khachatryan Sisters Extended

The Moscow City Court has extended until December 28 the preventive measure for the Khachatryan sisters, who are accused of murdering their father, in the form of a prohibition on certain actions, TASS reports.

"The request has been granted, extending the preventive measure in the form of a prohibition on certain actions until December 28," the court's decision states. The court made its ruling in a closed session. The ban on leaving their place of residence and contacting each other has also been extended.

The sisters are charged under part two of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code with "murder by a group of persons by prior conspiracy." At the same time, the charges note that the girls' actions were provoked by their father's, Mikhail Khachatryan's, actions. The lawyers argue that the girls acted within the necessary self-defense framework, as their father had subjected them to violence for many years.

The defendants and their defenders are familiarizing themselves with the thirty-volume criminal case. It is recalled that Mikhail Khachatryan’s body was discovered on the evening of July 27 on Altufyevsky Highway in Moscow, with multiple stab wounds. According to investigative data, he was killed by his three daughters due to personal animosity. During interrogations, the girls admitted their guilt and explained that their father had inflicted "moral suffering" on them for a long time.

On August 2, the Ostankino Court in Moscow had ordered their detention. On September 27, the Basmanny Court had changed the preventive measure to a prohibition on certain actions, after which they were released. According to the selected preventive measure, the girls are not allowed to leave their residence without the investigator's permission.
