Job Fair to Be Held Tomorrow

On October 25, at 11:00 AM, a job fair will be organized in the courtyard of the Armenian State University of Economics, featuring leading companies that require specialists in various sectors of the economy.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, over 50 employers will participate in the fair, including 11 commercial banks, 5 insurance companies, 6 lending institutions, 3 telecommunications companies, and 24 organizations representing other fields.

During the event, both job seekers and employers will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the trends in the labor market of Yerevan, employers' requirements, educational programs at the Armenian State University of Economics, as well as public employment support programs that provide opportunities for finding work and employees.

Within the framework of the job fair, at 1:00 PM in the large hall of the Armenian State University of Economics (main building, 1st floor), participants of the job fair, university students, and graduates will have the opportunity to attend discussions and presentations, during which speakers will introduce their insights on topics such as “Who Are Employers Looking For? Current Labor Market Requirements in Armenia,” “How to Write a Competitive Resume and Cover Letter, and How to Present Yourself in Job Interviews,” “The Most In-Demand Professions,” and other relevant subjects.

As of October 1, 2019, the number of job seekers in the country stands at 83.3 thousand, which reflects an increase of 1.3% compared to the same period last year, and 2% compared to the beginning of the year. In Yerevan, as of the same date, the number of job seekers is around 12.3 thousand, having decreased by 1.7% compared to the previous year.

The number of unemployed individuals constitutes 66.5% of job seekers, or 8.2 thousand people. This figure has also decreased by 12.7% compared to the same time last year. Among the unemployed in Yerevan, women account for 73.7%, or 6 thousand individuals. Of those with unemployment status, 16.8% are young people, and 6.1% have disabilities.

In Yerevan, there is a significant demand for highly qualified professionals in healthcare (excluding medical care and midwifery), architects, engineers and related specialists, medium-skilled workers in commercial and trading services, finance and trade sector employees, technicians in physics and engineering, workers in arts, entertainment, and sports, employees with vocational education such as cashiers and related occupations, store salespersons, merchandisers, employees of public catering organizations, landscaping company workers, service providers, and related occupational workers, as well as qualified laborers in food, textile, and construction materials industries and automotive drivers.

A total of 2,431 job seekers found employment through employment centers in 2019, of which 288 were through public employment programs.
