Citizen Steals Money from 'Idram' Digital Wallet

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has revealed several details regarding a theft committed using computer technology, following investigative operations conducted by the Arabkir division of the Yerevan Investigative Committee.

The individual accused is a 30-year-old resident of Ararat city. Preliminary reports indicate that on June 20, 2019, the police in Arabkir received a complaint from a citizen stating that 69,000 Armenian drams had been stolen from their 'Idram' digital wallet.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Arabkir police under part 1 of Article 181 of the RA Criminal Code, with the investigation being carried out by the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Arabkir division.

As a result of investigative and procedural actions, it was established that on June 7, 2019, at 12:50 PM, the reporting citizen provided their internet access IP address to a 30-year-old resident born in 1989, who then stole money from the citizen's 'Idram' wallet, transferred it to a friend's 'Idram' wallet, and cashed out the amount the same day.

On October 11, 2019, a search of the residence of the 30-year-old resident of Ararat resulted in the confiscation of his mobile phones and computer equipment. Based on the collected evidence, the individual has been formally charged under part 1 of Article 181 of the RA Criminal Code, and a signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint.

The investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case, as well as to identify any other individuals who may have been harmed by the actions of the alleged perpetrator.
