Arsen Babayan's Case Will Fall Under Amnesties, Marukyan Says
The arrest of Arsen Babayan, former deputy head of the National Assembly's staff, is unclear, said Edmon Marukyan, leader of the 'Bright Armenia' faction, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
'Because arrests are made when a person is detained at the time of committing a crime and there is a reasonable suspicion that they may evade prosecution. But when a person is invited and they appear, I believe that arresting them is not so proportional,' he stated.
According to Edmon Marukyan, Arsen Babayan's case has no future. 'Because it will fall under amnesty and it is not even necessary for him to admit to committing official forgery. It is enough for him not to object for the amnesty to be applied to him and he will be released,' Marukyan said. 'If Babayan is taken to court now, even the worst judge may not incarcerate him.'
