No Funding Allocated to Ryanair from State Budget, Says Avinyan

“No funds are being allocated to that airline at the expense of taxpayers from the state budget, you can rest assured; I once again refute all the information circulating on social media—there is no such thing. At Zvartnots Airport, all the privileges that we have established apply to all airlines that offer new routes. If there has not been a regular flight on a specific route for 12 months, we plan to eliminate the air tariff. I am not familiar with the details of their business plan, but such airlines operate under a mechanism of maximum efficiency. The privilege, I reiterate, is not set for one company. This creates a new field to improve competition and allow new players to enter the market,” said Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, commenting on Ryanair.

“We are working in several directions—countries like Armenia have the issue of strengthening their air connections and establishing new routes. That is our strategy. The second is promoting local carriers’ programs, and in one or two years, we will be able to talk about that,” the deputy prime minister added.
