In the Case of Testimony Against Vanetsyan, It Has Been Confirmed That the Flower Market Employee Sustained Injuries
On October 17, Karen Ghazaryan, who was forcibly taken from the flower market adjacent to Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium to the police, sought medical assistance at Nairi Medical Center after the incident. This was reported to NEWS.am by Arsen Babayan, the director of the Babayan Consulting law firm, which represents Ghazaryan's interests. According to him, Ghazaryan underwent examination at the hospital and submitted a medical report to the prosecutorial body regarding this matter.
According to the medical report provided by the specialized medical center, Ghazaryan has "abrasions on the right and left sides of the neck, right and left wrist joints, lumbar region, and left ankle joints." Babayan stated that the Investigative Committee has also referred Ghazaryan to an expert for forensic examination, but the conclusions from this examination have not yet been received.
It was previously reported that five citizens lodged a complaint with the Investigative Committee concerning their forcible transportation to the police on October 17 and the pressures exerted on them. The complaint was accepted for investigation. Notably, Karen Ghazaryan indicated that on the morning of October 17, around 08:30, a group of individuals used violence to take him in his "Porsche Cayenne" vehicle, along with several other citizens in different cars, to the 6th department of the Armenian Police.
Ghazaryan reported that the police demanded he falsely claim that he had extorted money from flower vendors adjacent to the stadium and provided it to someone, and that he should name that person. When he refused to comply with their demands and declined to make such statements, masked individuals present there verbally abused and physically assaulted him, inflicting injuries to various parts of his body.
Earlier, the newspaper "Hraparak" reported that on October 17, Karen Ghazaryan, an employee of the flower market, was taken to the sixth department by force and pressured to provide testimony against former NSS director Arthur Vanetsyan. The police stated that several individuals were taken into custody from the flower market on October 17 on suspicion of illegal entrepreneurship.
In connection with the reports regarding the forcible transportation of Karen Ghazaryan to the police and the pressures exerted on him, a service investigation has been ordered by Acting Police Chief Arman Sargsyan.
