I Am Leaving with a Clear Conscience: Sarhat Petrosyan
Thanks to Manuk Vardanyan and many others, having detached from the Ministry of Urban Development, this system once became a solid framework, but it cannot operate effectively if there are problems in other areas. This was stated today, on October 21, during a working consultation at the Cadastre Committee by the head of the Committee, Sarhat Petrosyan.
“The discrepancies are particularly significant, especially in the registration sector, but the challenges are broader, and in our discussions, we have repeatedly reached the conclusion that the problem is not specifically in our area and needs resolution,” he said.
Addressing his resignation, Sarhat Petrosyan stated, “Some say without understanding what the Cadastre actually is, that it is merely a registering body; I did not come here as the head of a registering body.” He added that there is no other reason for his resignation, expressing that he has “worked with great pleasure for 1 year and 2 months,” and that “there is probably no one left in the central apparatus with whom he wouldn’t want to work,” assuring that if there are one or two, he is confident they could soon work effectively together.
“But each of us has our principles; I in this case also have professional principles,” he emphasized.
Petrosyan once again thanked the staff of the apparatus, although he noted that he had opportunities to thank each of them individually for their good work during his tenure.
“After my departure, I hope that those who recently joined the system will work at the previous pace, and those who have been around for a long time will continue to implement new ideas. I want to tell you that this is a fantastic team,” he added.
Sarhat Petrosyan mentioned that it is very easy to return to the previous state, but expressed hope that the new leadership “will take the path that we have taken together.” He stated that he has discussed with the secretary general and the registrars that measures should be taken to ensure the stable implementation of the reforms initiated in the system, indicating that it is not the case that everyone is leaving the system together.
“I am confident that there are people who might be happy with my resignation, but I have never acted out of personal feelings towards anyone; my attitude has always been determined by the urge to make the system more efficient… I know there will be news hanging in the air for a long time, but I am leaving with a clear conscience,” he expressed.
The resigning head indicated that throughout the day he would meet with everyone individually, adding for the future, “You have my phone number; call me for any questions… And now, as they say, go ahead and get to work.”
