VIDEO: Brothers Aged 16 and 19 Have Previously Faced Several Criminal Cases

As previously reported, two young men suspected of the murder of one police officer and injuring another were apprehended during the night.

The Police of Armenia has provided further details on the incident. Accordingly, the brothers, born in 2001 and 2003, were identified as suspects and brought in from their home in the village of Proshyan.

The brothers have a history of involvement in several criminal cases related to personal property theft. At their residence, police found the service weapon of a police officer, with which the younger brother, aged 16, fired at 38-year-old police officer Tigran Araqelyan and struck another officer on the head with the gun handle.

Both brothers have been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

It should be noted that on the night of October 16, around 4:30 AM, police officers from the Main Directorate of the Protection of State Interests noticed two individuals near the entrance of Victory Park. Upon seeing the patrol vehicle, the individuals attempted to flee. Police pursued them and apprehended them on Freedom Avenue.

The detained individuals resisted arrest, during which one of them seized a police officer's service weapon and fired at one officer while striking another with the gun handle. The perpetrators fled the scene.

As a result of the gunfire, police officer Tigran Araqelyan from the Arabkir Protection Division has died.
