Unexpected Attack on Police Officer in the Dark: New Details from Arman Sargsyan

The Acting Chief of Police of Armenia, Arman Sargsyan, visited the police officer who was injured during the night at the St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center. Shantnews reports that the acting chief provided some details about the incident.

“While carrying out their duties, the police officer noticed suspicious individuals and approached them to verify their identities. Upon their approach, the suspects attempted to flee. The police pursued them and were able to apprehend one individual. The second suspect, who managed to escape, unexpectedly attacked our officer in the dark near the ‘Victory’ Park, attempting to free his detained friend. During the struggle, he managed to seize the gun, which was secured with a rope, and fired shots,” he explained.

Sargsyan indicated that it is assumed vital organs were affected and reported that, according to preliminary data, one shot was fired. The weapon has not yet been recovered; however, within a short period, they managed to establish the identity of the suspects. “They are already with us and are confessing. Answers to questions will be provided based on the investigation results, and circumstances will be clarified. Objectivity and comprehensiveness will be ensured. I can say that the individuals were not law-abiding and respectful citizens. The police instincts were accurate; they approached the right individuals. I regret that such an incident has occurred,” Sargsyan noted.
