Breaking: Shots Fired in Yerevan, One Police Officer Killed, Another Brutally Beaten
In Yerevan, on October 16, a murder involving the use of firearms occurred. Around 4:00 AM, the operational management center of the Yerevan city police received a call from the 1-03 emergency aid station, reporting that a team of doctors had transported a deceased citizen to the hospital, with another individual also injured from a beating.
According to Shamshyan.com, law enforcement officials have determined that the deceased and the injured were taken to the hospital from the intersection of Azatutyun and Babayan streets, where both individuals, who are officers of the Kanaker-Zeytun police department, came under attack while carrying out their official duties.
The attackers were two individuals; one fired a gunshot at one of the police officers, while the other was beaten, after which they fled the scene.
The temporary acting head of the police of Armenia, Police Colonel Arman Sargsyan, the commander of police troops, Police Colonel Vahe Ghazaryan, and the head of the State Traffic Police, Police Colonel Egor Karapetyan, arrived at the scene. A bullet, a cartridge, and blood-like traces were found at the location.
The police and the investigative department are undertaking necessary operational-search and investigative joint actions to clarify the crime, locate the perpetrators, and recover the firearm used in the crime. Sources also report that the police officers were in a police service vehicle.
