«Hraparak». A Rift Has Emerged Between the Authorities and Vahe Grigoryan

«Hraparak» newspaper reports: A rift has emerged between the authorities and the President of the Constitutional Court, Vahe Grigoryan. The authorities not only did not respond to Vahe Grigoryan’s well-known letter aimed at resolving the crisis in the Constitutional Court, but they also undermined him by asserting through an application to the National Assembly that “Vahe was wrong, Hrayr was right,” and that the term “Constitutional Court judge-member” was mere wordplay.

The issue is that this application was directed towards “terminating the powers of the Constitutional Court judge,” and not a member, as Vahe Grigoryan insisted, claiming that there are two judges in the Constitutional Court—himself and Arman Dilanyan—while the others are members because they were elected under the unchanged norms of the Constitution.

In any case, Vahe Grigoryan is now doing everything to convince the authorities that it is essential to move forward with his Plan B to neutralize Hrayr Tovmasyan and to implement the second point of his letter. The National Assembly should address the constitutional competent bodies regarding the nomination of candidates for the vacant positions of Constitutional Court judges, after which the National Assembly should hold elections and appoint Constitutional Court judges, thereby completing the composition of the Constitutional Court.
