Canada Halts Arms Exports to Turkey
The Canadian authorities have temporarily suspended arms supplies to Turkey due to Ankara's military operations in northern Syria. This was reported by France24.
“Canada firmly condemns Turkey's military incursion into Syria,” the Canadian Foreign Ministry stated.
The diplomatic agency believes that Turkey's actions could undermine regional stability and sabotage the operations of the international coalition against the Islamic State.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry has also called for the protection of civilians and ensuring access to humanitarian assistance.
It is noted that in 2018, the volume of Canadian arms exports amounted to approximately $90 million. Earlier, arms supplies to Turkey were suspended by the United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, and Norway.
