Armenia to Continue Providing Humanitarian Assistance to Friendly People of Syria
The Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN, Mher Margaryan, met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, on October 16. According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, the Permanent Representative expressed deep concern over the humanitarian consequences of the military incursion by Turkey in northeastern Syria, including human losses and the displacement of the civilian population.
Mher Margaryan notably emphasized the threats posed to the Armenian community in Syria and other national and religious minorities as a result of military operations, particularly the dangers of crimes against identity and the risk of mass atrocities.
The Armenian ambassador underscored the importance of conducting humanitarian operations and providing support in northern and northeastern Syria, reaffirming Armenia’s commitment to continue providing humanitarian assistance to the friendly people of Syria. The parties discussed opportunities for collaboration and coordinating efforts in this regard, as stated in the announcement.
