5 out of 9 Musicians Have Reported Their Earnings, Criminal Case to be Initiated Against One: State Revenue Committee

The last step we took was to send a letter to 9 prominent figures, singers and musicians, asking them to declare their earnings. This was stated today, October 16, during a meeting with journalists by the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan.

According to him, out of these 9, 5 have reported their incomes, a criminal case has been initiated against one, and preliminary calculations are being carried out for another, with a likely criminal case to be filed.

“The remaining two are abroad and will return to declare their incomes. They have contacted us, stating that they have certain disagreements regarding our letter, but they will come to discuss, and if it becomes clear that there are amounts subject to declaration, they will declare them,” highlighted the head of the State Revenue Committee, adding, “The dynamics are normal, and I believe our colleagues are taking steps in line with our appeal.”

Earlier, it was reported who the representatives of the show business among these 9 are. They include singers Sona Shahgaldyan, Iveta Mukuchyan, Silva Hakobyan, Lilit Hovhannisyan, and singers Tatan, Andre, and Arman Hovhannisyan. These individuals were noted for not paying any taxes to the state in 2018 and did not present themselves or declare their incomes even after numerous requests from the State Revenue Committee.

It is worth mentioning that the State Revenue Committee had repeatedly issued statements highlighting that, valuing the importance of the cultural sector, they see the solution to the problem in a platform of mutual understanding rather than sharp measures, once again notifying individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the show business sector.

The State Revenue Committee reminded that engaging in illegal entrepreneurship could lead to criminal liability.
