VIDEO: Significant Money Demanded for Disability Status by NSS Reveal
The staff of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has uncovered another case of bribery as a result of extensive operational and investigative measures. Specifically, according to initial data obtained, the chairman of one of the medical-social expert commissions of the Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has, abusing his official position, demanded and received significant bribes from around two dozen citizens of Armenia who applied for a medical examination in August-September of this year, for granting or confirming disability status without any legal grounds.
A criminal case has been opened at the investigative department of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia on the grounds of the apparent crime, in accordance with the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code. As a result of operational and investigative actions, the aforementioned official was caught in the act of receiving a bribe and was detained.
Under pressure from undeniable evidence, the chairman of the medical-social expert commission has provided confessional testimonies, and considering this, a signature not to leave the place of residence has been selected as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to clarify the involvement of other possible parties in other criminal incidents and the corruption chain.
