Sanasaryan Does Not Deny That the Child Involved in the Accident Was Taken to the Hospital, While the Hospital Denies It
On September 12, Karine Abajyan, head of the emergency department of Armenia Medical Center, stated in an interview with Aysor.am that a 9-year-old boy who was involved in a traffic accident was not admitted to their facility. “There is no record of such a sick child in my department. There has not been such a case. I do not know who wrote or what was written. I would like to see the mother of the child so that she could come and say that such a thing happened here. There has been nothing like that in my emergency department. What they did afterward or whether they referred to another doctor, I cannot say,” she noted.
When asked whether it is possible that the mother of the child went directly to another doctor at the same hospital without going through the emergency department, Karine Abajyan responded that she cannot say. “I don’t know, this is a small medical town; there is a maternity hospital, and there are a thousand ways to medical facilities. It mentions ‘Armenia Medical Center’, but if something happens at the maternity hospital, they still write ‘Armenia Medical Center’. The maternity hospital has had absolutely nothing to do with us for many years,” she said, reiterating that she is only responsible for the activities of the emergency department.
For her part, Alina Nikoghosyan, spokesperson for the Minister of Health of Armenia, stated that their agency has no role in the case; all information should be provided by the police. “How can the ministry know whether the accident happened or not, whether there was a child or not, whether the hospital was transferred or not,” Nikoghosyan said.
