Food in Nubarashen Penitentiary to Be Provided by Private Company
The trial program for food provision by a private company has commenced at the Nubarashen penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia as of October 15. This information was provided by the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.
"A total of 366 individuals have benefited from the food provided in the penitentiary. For comparison, on the previous day, October 14, only 300 individuals utilized the food services. Starting from October 16, the program will also launch at the 'Armavir' penitentiary, which has the largest number of inmates and beneficiaries. This means that a new and effective system for food preparation, delivery, and allocation is being introduced in penitentiaries by highly qualified chefs.
If the 70-day trial program is successfully implemented, it is planned to introduce the same system in other penitentiaries as well.
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and the Penitentiary Service reaffirm their commitment to implementing the fundamental benchmarks outlined in the government program and to carrying out radical reforms within the penitentiary system. Measures aimed at improving the conditions of detention for those deprived of freedom and enhancing the quality of their services will be of a continuous nature," the statement says.
