Russia Positive About Turkey's Idea to Liberate Kobani, Erdogan Says
Russia is positive about Turkey's idea to liberate the city of Kobani in Syria. This statement was made by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a press conference in Istanbul, as reported by TASS.
“There are various discussions circulating, but we believe there will be no issues related to Kobani. Russia is positive about this matter,” asserted the Turkish president.
He added that “Turkey's armed forces will ensure safe entry into Manbij for the militants of the so-called Syrian Liberation Army, which is under the control of the 'Syrian Democratic Forces' coalition.”
“Regarding the Manbij issue, we had an agreement with the U.S., according to which the terrorists were to be removed within 90 days. We are now implementing our own decision. Manbij must be liberated from the militants. The true owners of Manbij, our Arab brothers, will be there. We will try to ensure their security,” the Turkish president said.
Erdogan stressed that Ankara positively evaluates the U.S. decision regarding the troop withdrawal from southern Syria. “The U.S. remains committed to its position on withdrawing troops. We believe this is a positive step,” he stated.
