No Change in Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan's Health Condition

The health condition of Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan, who sustained serious injuries in an incident in Vayots Dzor province, remains unchanged. He is on a ventilator. This was stated in a conversation with NEWS.am by the lieutenant colonel’s brother, Karen Mkhitaryan.

He noted that the doctors do not yet know when there will be positive changes. They also travel from Gyumri daily to visit their brother and then return.

It is worth mentioning that 10 days ago, the head of the Medical Service of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Sahak Ohanyan, informed journalists: “He is still connected to the ventilator, but the device does not dictate; rather, he dictates his breathing capabilities to the device. The device is just helping. Pain reflexes have somewhat recovered. Today, he opened his eyes. He has suffered a very deep brain trauma; one hemisphere has a fairly positive dynamic and is recovering. There are some issues with the other hemisphere. According to our doctors today, it is possible that in the case of recovery, the left side may not recover. We hope the right side of the body will recover.”

Recall that Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan was brutally beaten in the city of Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor, on September 18. The assistant to the governor of Vayots Dzor, Harutyun Grigoryan, has been arrested in connection with this case. The Investigative Committee has also seized the security cameras from the crime scene to verify the governor's participation.

Additionally, in connection with the criminal case initiated regarding the brutal beating of Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan, the brother of the assistant to the governor of Vayots Dzor, Zaven Grigoryan, has been arrested.
