France Plans to Halt Turkish Operations in Syria

France will intensify efforts to halt Turkish operations in northeastern Syria. This was reported by the French press agency.

The French Defense and National Security Council, chaired by President Emmanuel Macron, held a meeting after which the Élysée Palace issued a statement.

“France will increase its diplomatic efforts in close coordination with its allies in the international coalition against the Islamic State, within the frameworks of the European Union, NATO, and the UN Security Council. Steps will be taken to ensure the safety of French military personnel and citizens in Syria, as well as an urgent humanitarian response program will be adopted. Measures will also be taken to protect France’s national security. France unequivocally condemns Turkey's attack,” the statement said.

During the meeting, Macron stated that Turkey's actions could lead to tragic humanitarian consequences, the resurgence of the Islamic State's influence in the region, and destabilization of the situation in northeastern Syria. Considering all of this, France must prioritize the neutralization of the Islamic State in the region.
