Doctors at Jabrayil Hospital Save Life of 18-Year-Old Soldier with Complex Surgery
Doctors at the Jabrayil Hospital in the Republic of Artsakh have successfully saved the life of 18-year-old serviceman Hayk Khachatryan after a five-and-a-half-hour surgery. The medical team acted swiftly, and the surgeons who performed the complex operation have received endless gratitude from the soldier's mother.
In an interview with Armenpress, Hayk's mother, Tamara Baghdasaryan, shared details of the incident. "My son serves in the army unit in Hadrut. He was transferred to Jabrayil Hospital with severe abdominal pain, in extremely critical condition. It turned out that his appendix had burst, and inflammation had begun. The doctors diagnosed appendicitis. They immediately proceeded with the surgery," she recounted, noting that there was no time to prepare him for the pre-operative period.
As a result of the surgery, which lasted about five and a half hours, the doctors managed to save the young man's life. Hayk Khachatryan is currently on leave under his mother’s care. Tamara Baghdasaryan expressed her relief, stating, "He is feeling much better now. There was a risk of a second surgery, but everything went very well, and that is no longer necessary. I will be indebted to the hospital doctors for the rest of my life. I want to especially mention surgeons Aram Antonian and Hovhannes Yeghoyan," she said, adding that the unit commander has also been very attentive to the situation.
Hayk's mother is impressed by the staff's attention and care at the hospital. "I am astonished by the level of care provided in such a remote area," she remarked.
Hayk is scheduled to return to military service on October 23.
