Arman Sargsyan Introduces New Head of Syunik Regional Police Department

On October 14, Arman Sargsyan, the acting head of the Police of Armenia, introduced the newly appointed head Gevorg Azizyan to the leadership of the Syunik Regional Police Department and its subordinate units. Present at the event were Syunik Deputy Governor Narek Babayan and heads of law enforcement agencies.

Arman Sargsyan first summarized the career path of Police Colonel Gevorg Azizyan within the system, emphasizing that he is an experienced employee in operational service, and wished him effective tenure.

Following this, issues regarding the operational situation in the region and the response to specific types of crime were discussed. In this context, the acting head of police instructed to intensify efforts in preventing and uncovering cases of illegal drug trafficking, illegal logging, and poaching.

Arman Sargsyan particularly addressed the fight against corruption-related crimes, stressing that such phenomena should receive a strict and lawful response from police officers. He also highlighted that corrupt practices should be excluded within the police ranks.

The acting head of police instructed the newly appointed head of the Syunik Regional Police Department to strengthen cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and local self-government bodies, keep the criminal authorities residing in the region within operational visibility, improve the work of external services, and manage personnel policies to ensure the advancement of deserving officers.

Speeches were also delivered by the prosecutor of Syunik region, heads of the national security service, and the investigative department, who emphasized the importance of close cooperation with the police in the fight against crime and expressed readiness to expand the collaborative arena.
