Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan's Income Tripled in One Year

Who is Rustam Badasyan?

Badasyan was born on January 27, 1991, in Yerevan. He graduated from the Yerevan State University Faculty of Law with a bachelor's degree in 2011. He obtained a master's degree from the International Center for Scientific Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia in the Faculty of Law in 2013. In 2015, he completed the advocacy school in Armenia and received a license for legal practice.

From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a leading specialist in the legal and compulsory collection department of the Shengavit Tax Inspectorate under the State Revenue Committee of Armenia. From 2013 to 2014, he served as an investigator in the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee.

On June 19, 2019, at the suggestion of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President Armen Sarkissian appointed Rustam Badasyan as the Minister of Justice. He is married.

Assets

As of the day he was appointed as the first deputy chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Badasyan did not declare real estate in the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials. He owns a MERCEDES-BENZ E 320 vehicle, as well as shares. His monetary assets amounted to $500, €600, and 650,000 AMD.

His income was 2,514,709 AMD, of which 500,000 AMD was received from shares, while the rest was compensation for work performed. In the 2018 annual declaration, when he was already a minister, Badasyan had €1,220 and 6,755,000 AMD in cash. His income tripled, reaching 18,186,322 AMD, of which 1,951,195 AMD was from dividends, while the rest was compensation received for work.
