3 Armenian Chess Players Achieve Victories at Grand Swiss 2019
The prestigious FIDE Chess.com Grand Swiss 2019 tournament is underway in Switzerland, featuring over 150 chess players, including all top-rated players in the FIDE rankings, led by reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen.
Representing Armenia in the tournament are Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargsyan, Karen Movsisyan, Sergey Movsesyan, Vladimir Hakobyan, Hrant Melkumyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, and Elina Danielyan.
In the second round, three of our chess players—Gabriel Sargsyan, Vladimir Hakobyan, and Elina Danielyan—achieved victories. Sergey Movsesyan suffered a defeat, while the others played draws. After two rounds, Hrant Melkumyan, Gabriel Sargsyan, and Vladimir Hakobyan each have 1.5 points. Sergey Movsesyan has 0.5 points, while the other Armenian players have 1 point.
