There Are Currently Objects on the Shores of Sevan That Are Environmental Disasters: Pashinyan

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the successes of Lake Sevan during today's Government meeting, also discussing the objects located on the shores of Sevan.

“There are objects on the shores of Sevan that are local ecological disasters. These people are polluting Sevan, and as a result of this pollution, they suffer economic losses and demand from the Government that citizens be directed to go and eat bread in their polluting waters and in objects reminiscent of chicken coops,” he said.

He noted that not everything should be justified by social issues and commented that decaying and rotting “railcars” cannot support a large family for long. According to him, “the business around Sevan needs to be civilized. This is our problem, and we must have a very clear position. People inflict damage with their actions, then face the consequences, then block the road and say, ‘Government, come solve this.’ But who said that the Government must solve all these issues? Clean up under your own feet,” emphasized Pashinyan.

Nikol Pashinyan pointed out that all of this harms the image of the country. “It is enough to turn a blind eye to catastrophic phenomena. There are places in Sevan that if a tourist appears there, upon seeing it, they will say, ‘Don’t go to Armenia,’” he added.
