Hakob Simidyan: Candidate for NSS Director?
«Hraparak» newspaper reports that in recent days various sources have been circulating information that the ruling party is searching for a new Director of the National Security Service (NSS), as there is a lack of trust in the current acting director, who is linked to Arthur Vanetsyan. Among the potential candidates, they mention the name of Hakob Simidyan, the secretary of the parliamentary faction, who is already being prepared for the position of NSS director, with training sessions underway.
A few months ago, we would not have taken this information seriously, since it seemed unlikely, but a law allowing the appointment of leaders of security forces from political circles has already passed one reading and will soon be adopted. Thus, this scenario is quite possible. Especially since Prime Minister Pashinyan wants to place a loyal person in this position, and he has traversed a long path with Simidyan, particularly during the state of emergency.
However, yesterday Simidyan responded quite sharply to our reporter, stating, 'Such a thing does not exist; your information is absurd.'
