Planned Exercises for Reservists to Be Held: Decision Adopted
The government has decided to announce planned exercises for reservists registered in the first group of the reserve of the Army, specifically for rank-and-file, non-commissioned officers, and commissioned officers.
The exercises will take place for 40 days from October 20 to November 30, 2019. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan inquired whether the conduct of these exercises is related to the current military drills. Defense Minister David Tonoyan clarified that previously, drills were carried out based on decisions by the Minister, but due to changes in the Constitution and legislation, all drills this year are being conducted based on the government's decision. "But there is a positive side to this; the process is public and transparent," the minister stated.
The Prime Minister urged to communicate to the public that these are, in fact, planned events. "Yes, we have said that the military exercises being conducted are unprecedented in scale, but this is not related to external circumstances; it is about changes in certain approaches and the volume of work. In the situation we all know, nothing has changed, and the public should be clearly informed about this," Pashinyan said.
