ECHR Admits Application Regarding Robert Kocharian's Case

The European Court of Human Rights has accepted the application submitted by the Constitutional Court based on the appeals of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction and Robert Kocharian.

This was reported by the staff of the Constitutional Court. “The application submitted by the Constitutional Court to the European Court of Human Rights for an advisory opinion regarding the cases under examination based on the appeals of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction and Robert Kocharian was accepted for consideration on October 2, 2019,” the statement said.

It is noteworthy that on July 18, the Constitutional Court made a procedural decision to suspend the proceedings concerning the compliance of Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code with the Constitution based on the applications from the Yerevan City Court and Robert Kocharian, and sought an advisory opinion from the European Court of Human Rights and the Venice Commission.
