Russian Side Plans to Increase Gas Price by 38-40 Percent, Including for the Population
The newspaper «Past» reports that there has been ongoing information in the media regarding a potential increase in the price of Russian gas supplied to Armenia in the near future.
Yesterday, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan stated that news about a 30 percent increase in gas prices is not accurate. When asked if the gas price will rise next year, the Deputy Prime Minister responded, «I cannot answer yet; I hope not.»
Grigoryan also mentioned that negotiations regarding the gas price will conclude by the end of the year. This is particularly interesting considering that the concrete information about the 30 percent increase is being denied.
According to the newspaper's sources, starting January 1, 2020, gas prices are expected to rise, including for the population. However, it remains to be seen how much the increase will be. Sources claim that the Russian side plans to raise the gas price by 38-40 percent, which is a significant increase that could severely impact both social conditions and the overall economy of Armenia.
