France Bids Farewell to Jacques Chirac Today

France bids farewell to former President Jacques Chirac. Monday has been declared a national day of mourning in memory of the prominent political figure who passed away at the age of 87 on September 26. According to TASS, the Élysée Palace has announced that official ceremonies will take place first in the honor courtyard of the historic Invalides, where the deceased leader will be accorded military honors. He served as President of the Republic for 12 years, from 1995 to 2007, and was also the Supreme Commander of the French Armed Forces.

It is also noteworthy that after the ceremony, a mourning procession will head to the old Saint-Sulpice Church in Paris, located between the Luxembourg Gardens and Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
