Former Convict Davit Minasian Elected as Village Head of Parakar

According to preliminary information, Davit Minasian has won the election for the head of the Parakar community in Armavir. Information from the "Datalex" judicial information system reveals that on March 21, 2009, at the Scarlett karaoke bar, Davit Minasian had a dispute with Davit Piliyan. Subsequently, they agreed to meet in the yard of building A on Parekhashat street to discuss the matter. There, Minasian had a confrontation with Davit Piliyan and his friends, and he shot in the direction of the Gevorgyan brothers' feet with an air pistol, causing serious bodily harm. A criminal case was initiated on March 21, 2009.

On May 25, 2009, the preliminary investigation body charged Davit Minasian as an accused under Article 112, Part 2, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code. On July 9, 2009, the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Malatia-Sebastia community in Yerevan found Minasian guilty under the same article and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment.

The accused’s defense lawyer, N. Mkrtchyan, appealed the aforementioned verdict. On October 12, 2009, the RA Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the first instance court.
