Criminal Case Opened Following Accident in Arteni
On September 29, around 16:30, at the 27th km section of the Armavir-Gyumri highway, military vehicles attached to artillery collided with each other as part of the training exercises conducted under the command of the Ministry of Defense from September 24 to October 5, 2019.
The vehicles involved were a "ZIL" with registration number 32 UU 875, a "Kamaz" with registration number 753 SL 45, another "Kamaz" with registration number 548 SL 45, and a "Kamaz" with registration number 625 AF 61, which were parked on the road's traffic zone.
Due to the lack of safe traffic conditions and failure to implement measures to prevent any potential traffic accidents, at approximately 19:30, a passenger bus with registration number 35 SN 646, traveling along that roadway, crashed into the artillery attached to the "Kamaz" with registration number 625 AF 61. As a result, the bus driver, Hakob Grigori Hakobyan, born in 1958 and a resident of Aragatsavan village in Aragatsotn province, died at the scene. Furthermore, 13 passengers sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries and were transported to medical centers.
A criminal case has been initiated in the tenth garrison investigative department of the Military Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia under Article 377, Part 2 of the Criminal Code.
