Fact: Russia is Considering Abandoning the Transcaucasian Railroad

The newspaper 'Fact' reports that the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has announced that the Russian government is discussing the possibility of terminating the management of Armenia's railway system, referred to as the 'Transcaucasian Railroad'. This information has raised serious concerns in Armenia.

The theme is also being actively addressed by Russian media outlets, which note that the situation has escalated due to searches and criminal cases initiated by Armenia's new authorities against the 'Transcaucasian Railroads'.

Russian media states that the Transcaucasian Railroad is not a profitable organization; rather, it is seen as a sort of charitable obligation that has been taken on 'as a burden'. Several Russian experts express the opinion that, in this manner, the Russians are simply telling the Armenian authorities: 'We don’t need your railroad at all, you can struggle with it yourselves.'
