Karekin II to Discuss with Nikol Pashinyan Recent Statements Regarding the Church
Supreme Patriarch Karekin II will discuss with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the latter's statements regarding the church. “Most likely, after the Prime Minister returns to Armenia, we will have a discussion concerning this issue. We meet regularly to discuss problems and issues concerning the church and the homeland,” Karekin II told reporters, adding that this issue will likely be addressed as well.
Commenting on the recent events in the country, particularly the resignations of leaders in law enforcement agencies, Karekin II noted, “We see that there are quite a few questions facing our country that concern the people. We are hopeful that all issues will receive favorable resolutions.”
It is worth reminding that during a press conference in Los Angeles, Nikol Pashinyan addressed the state-church relations, stating that if church officials decide to “undermine the government’s authority,” they will be brought to their knees.
