Corruption Case Uncovered at Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, adhering to its functions established by law to combat crimes and counter corruption, has disclosed a corruption-related crime within the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
According to established factual data, a member of the medical-social expert committee in Ararat region demanded and received a sum of money for facilitating the process of extending the disability status of a citizen of Armenia in exchange for a bribe. This process occurred under the operational control of NSS employees, leading to the immediate arrest of the official involved.
Following this incident, the Investigative Department of the NSS has initiated criminal proceedings on September 25, 2019, in accordance with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigation is underway, and necessary operational measures and investigative actions are being taken to identify individuals potentially involved in the corruption chain, hold them accountable, and ascertain the scope of citizens affected by their actions.
