18-Year-Old Young Man Injured in Hit-and-Run Passes Away in Hospital Before Induction
On September 20, 18-year-old Vram Hovhannisyan from the Ararat region passed away in the intensive care unit of Yerevan's "Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center" after failing to regain consciousness. He had been transferred to the hospital on July 14 following a hit-and-run incident at the 8th kilometer mark of the Vedi-Yerevan intercommunity road, near the beginning of the Vosketap village, close to a railway crossing.
According to Shamshyan.com, the young man was attending a military celebration for a friend and was due to report for military service in just two days.
Recall that the incident occurred on July 14, at approximately 21:30, when the driver of a "Gazelle" vehicle with license plate 22 SS 506 swerved into oncoming traffic within the administrative boundaries of Vosketap village. This caused a collision with the 18-year-old pedestrian, after which the vehicle struck a parked ZIL (fuel truck) with license plate 32 OL 117 in the permissible area of the road. Continuing forward, the Gazelle then collided with a chain link fence and fell about 1 meter, hitting an Opel vehicle with license plate 34 VR 454 parked in the yard of building 48 on Shiraz Street.
