Certain Individuals Exempt from Visa Requirement for Entry into Armenia
The government will discuss today a draft decision regarding the exemption of certain categories of individuals from the requirement to obtain a visa for entry into the Republic of Armenia, the temporary facilitation of the visa acquisition process, and the establishment of a state duty exemption.
According to Article 31, Part 1, Clause "b" of the Law on State Duties and Article 19, Part 3 of the Law on the Budgetary System of the Republic of Armenia, as well as Articles 9, Parts 4 and 5 of the Law on Foreigners, the government of the Republic of Armenia decides:
- To exempt heads of delegations from foreign countries, as well as accompanying persons arriving in Armenia to participate in the World Congress on Information Technologies (hereinafter referred to as the Congress) to be held from October 6 to 9, 2019, from the requirement to obtain a visa for entry into the Republic of Armenia;
- To allow foreign citizens arriving in Armenia to participate in the Congress, who are included in the list approved by the government's Decision No. 329-N of April 4, 2008, and are not part of the official delegations mentioned in Clause 1, to obtain a visa for entry at the border crossing points of the Republic of Armenia;
- To require the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia to promptly submit the relevant list of the foreign citizens mentioned in Clauses 1 and 2 of this decision to the Police and the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia upon receipt of this information;
- To exempt individuals mentioned in Clause 2 from the payment of the state duty required for the issuance of entry visas;
- To require the head of the Police of the Republic of Armenia to submit a report on the amount of the state duty mentioned in Clause 4 of this decision to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry by November 10, 2019;
- To direct the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia to submit a proposal to the government of the Republic of Armenia within one month after receiving the report mentioned in Clause 5, regarding the allocation of funds from the reserve fund of the 2019 state budget to cover the amount specified in the report for the entry visas exempt from the state duty;
- To allow individuals mentioned in Clause 1 of this decision to stay in the territory of the Republic of Armenia without a visa from October 3 to 11, 2019, while providing entry visas to foreign citizens mentioned in Clause 2 for the period from October 3 to 11, 2019.
