Ara Mkrtichyan's Condition Remains Extremely Serious, Torosyan

I returned to Armenia in the evening and visited Ara Mkrtichyan this morning. I spoke for quite a long time with the doctors about his health condition, and at this moment, his condition continues to remain extremely serious. Health Minister Arsen Torosyan stated this in a briefing with reporters after today’s government meeting, referring to the health condition of Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkrtichyan, who was injured in a recent incident in the Vayots Dzor region.

“Our doctors are doing everything to at least maintain the condition as it is and to improve it. We are in constant contact to understand whether there is any positive shift or not. Unfortunately, it is difficult to make predictions at this moment; however, everything possible is being done to save his life and restore his health,” said the minister.

When asked if there is an opportunity for treatment abroad, Torosyan replied, “At this moment, no, because he is not fit for transfer.”

Speaking about Manvel Grigoryan’s health condition, Torosyan noted, “Manvel Grigoryan’s health condition has been our focus from the very beginning, primarily because we participate in numerous examinations in accordance with the law. Secondly, after his transfer from a correctional facility to a civilian institution, he is under constant supervision, both in the specific medical facility and by the doctors he has chosen, as well as with the involvement of doctors from abroad who provide advice when necessary. We assess his condition as stable; there is nothing urgent to be concerned about. We are doing everything to maintain his health, regardless of his legal situation. There is no threat to life, but he has several chronic diseases, and he is receiving inpatient treatment.”
