Alik Sargsyan: Soon It Will Be Proven That the Charges Against Me Are Groundless
Former Chief of Police of Armenia Alik Sargsyan, who was charged yesterday in connection with the March 1 case, is confident that it will soon be proven that the charges against him are unfounded.
In an interview with Hraparak, the former police chief stated that he does not accept the charges brought against him and does not wish to comment on them. “The charges directed at me are baseless, and very soon, I believe, this will be proven, you will see. That's all, I have nothing else to say,” Sargsyan mentioned in his conversation with the media.
It is worth recalling that yesterday the Special Investigative Service issued a comprehensive statement informing that, based on sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case concerning the events that took place in Yerevan between March 1 and 2, 2008, Alik Sargsyan has been charged under the second part of Article 308 (Abuse of official authority resulting in serious consequences), the first part of Article 314 (Commission of official forgery), and the first part of Article 334 (Concealment of a particularly serious crime) of the RA Criminal Code.
