VIDEO: New Corruption Revelation by the Police

Recently, operational data was received at the main department of the Police's Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes concerning offenses committed in the Gegharkunik region. This was reported by the police press service.

As a result of operational-investigative measures based on the received information, officers from the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Department of the main department discovered the following.

According to the factual data obtained, during the years 2017-2019, the father of the mayor of Chambarak organized and conducted illegal business activities in the administrative areas of the Chambarak and Shoghakat communities, without state registration and special permission, as well as in the territory of the Sevan National Park's Artanish branch, under the Ministry of Environment. Specifically, he extracted 1,200 cubic meters of sand and 1,000 cubic meters of soil, which he sold for a total of approximately 6,200,000 drams.

Currently, it is known from the investigation that the state has suffered damage amounting to 7,550,000 drams.

It has also been revealed that the mayors of Chambarak and Shoghakat, as well as the head of the Sevan National Park's Artanish branch, used their administrative powers for personal gain, allowing the father of the Chambarak mayor to engage in illegal business activities of sand and soil extraction.

A criminal case has been initiated at the police regarding these incidents, which has been sent to the investigative committee for further investigation. Circumstances are being clarified.
