PM Nikol Pashinyan Discontented with Los Angeles Armenian Community Meeting; Ambassador May Depart
According to the publication «Hraparak», Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considers the meeting in Los Angeles with the Armenian community a failure. Initially, it was planned that 30,000 to 35,000 people would attend, as the ‘Grand Park’ can accommodate up to 30,000, but the city administration had allowed organizers to close side streets, enabling additional space for another 5,000 to 6,000 attendees.
Moreover, buses were provided from 14 different locations in Los Angeles to transport people to the ‘Grand Park’, and discounts were offered for parking at all nearby lots. However, according to American media outlets, only about 10,000 people participated.
A particularly embarrassing situation arose regarding the attendance of Congress members; 53 congressmen and senators were invited, but only one, Adam Schiff, who is considered one of Trump’s fiercest opponents, attended the event.
There are rumors in the community that dissatisfaction with the results of the visit may lead to the departure of the Armenian Ambassador to the United States and the Consul General in Los Angeles from their positions in the near future.
