Paid Amount is Sufficient to Distribute Salaries for Sanitek, Karapetyan
Protests by employees of the Sanitek company continue in front of the Yerevan City Hall today. The workers are demanding a meeting with Yerevan's Mayor, Hayk Marutyan. The Sanitek employees are specifically calling for their salaries for the month of August.
Jakob Karapetyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan City Hall, approached the protesters. One of the participants addressed Karapetyan, stating, 'We are not interested in your and Sanitek's problems. You can negotiate with each other later. Just give us our money.'
Karapetyan clarified the situation: 'Two weeks ago, I said, and just a few days ago I confirmed, that at the request of Sanitek employees, I presented a written certificate, stamped and signed, stating that the Yerevan City Hall paid 165 million drams in August. My colleague from Sanitek also issued a statement on the same day, essentially confirming what I said, that the salary obligation for August amounts to 132 million drams, meaning the paid amount is more than sufficient to distribute salaries for Sanitek.'
He noted that the Yerevan City Hall has paid Sanitek as much as the company has worked, and has not paid for the amounts by which Sanitek has failed. He recalled that for about a month, Sanitek has not been operating, and there is virtually no garbage on the streets, indicating that the problem is almost resolved. However, we remember well the situation in the city during the summer months.
