Materials Prepared on Incident of Shooting Black Stork

MP Naira Zohrabyan made a post on her Facebook page titled "Shot at the Black Stork at Lake Arpi" and called for the attention of law enforcement agencies.

"There are people who have asked me whether the bill to criminalize cruelty to animals is a priority issue for our country today? Yes, it is a priority issue. I confidently say that it will be one of the most important laws in our country, because the law is about not only the protection of animals but also about humans. The human species that is capable of taking a life, just as an unknown animal did yesterday when it shot at the Black Stork. Incidentally, it was certainly the same beast that shot at the chick of this stork a week ago. And the law is about being able to capture such beasts by law and escort them to correctional facilities.

Moreover, I am very curious how those MPs who voted against or abstained on the bill during the first reading feel after every such incident. After all, the bill wasn't about me, and the personal attitude towards me or my colleagues shouldn't be a motivation for voting.

By the way, the unique Black Stork was shot in the area of the Arpi Lake National Park in Shirak Province. I have a slight, foggy hope that law enforcement will find the shooter and at least impose a light fine under the Administrative Violations Code until Parliament, I want to believe, will soon approve the bill to criminalize such sadism in the second reading. Let me also mention that there are only six pairs of this stork species in Armenia,” wrote the MP.

Based on the publication, materials are being prepared in the Department of Amasia of the Shirak Provincial Police.
