Why Vanetsyan and Osipyan Were Dismissed: Eduard Aghajanyan Explains
The decisions to dismiss Arthur Vanetsyan and Valery Osipyan from their positions as Director of the National Security Service and Chief of Police were made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was stated by Eduard Aghajanyan, the head of the Prime Minister's Office, during a conversation with reporters after a meeting of the board of the 'Civil Contract' party.
“The activities of the two officials did not satisfy the Prime Minister within the framework of their responsibilities. In appointing Valery Osipyan as the Prime Minister's chief advisor, the head of government believes he will be useful in that position,” Aghajanyan said, as reported by Armenpress, emphasizing that Vanetsyan and Osipyan resigned based on the Prime Minister's decision.
Aghajanyan added that there are currently no decisions regarding appointments to the positions of Director of the NSS and Chief of Police. “As for the dissonance in statements made by the Prime Minister and Mr. Vanetsyan, that was the Prime Minister’s decision, and the respectful wording used by the Prime Minister during the press conference was also due to respect for the generals. To avoid any misunderstandings, I want to reiterate that it was the Prime Minister’s decision to dismiss them. They were given the opportunity to submit their applications, and they have done so,” emphasized Eduard Aghajanyan.
