I Still Have Many Victories Ahead: Aleksanyan
Arthur Aleksanyan, a member of the Greco-Roman wrestling team and champion of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships, addressed the fact that he did not participate in the finals of the World Championship. He stated, “I am extremely grateful to all of you for your support and encouragement during this difficult time. I am very sorry that a serious injury prevented me from bringing you the joy of victory. I assure you that I still have many victories ahead, and you will be very happy,” Aleksanyan wrote on his Facebook page.
In the finals of the 97 kg weight category at the World Championship taking place in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, Aleksanyan was supposed to compete against the reigning world champion from Russia, Musa Yevloev. However, due to an injury sustained the previous day, the wrestler will not compete.
Aleksanyan has already secured a spot for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the champion of the Rio de Janeiro 31st Summer Olympics and has won the world champion title three times (2014, 2015, 2017) and the European gold medal four times (2012, 2013, 2014, 2018).
