Gasparyan Refuses to Testify, Claims He Is Not Guilty
Today, the investigator of the Main Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia has charged former Chief of Police, retired General Lieutenant Vladimir Sergeyevich Gasparyan under the second part of Article 375 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
This was reported by Vladimir Gasparyan's lawyer Tigran Atanesyan on his Facebook page: 'V. Gasparyan does not admit guilt in the charges made against him and has refused to provide testimony at this stage of the investigation. V. Gasparyan does not take the charges seriously, as they are patently absurd to the degree of farce. Furthermore, this is already the 5th or 6th criminal case linked to his name after he was dismissed from his post. Several of these cases have already been closed during the preliminary investigation phase, and we are confident that this case will also have no legal future and will be dismissed. General Lieutenant V. Gasparyan has devoted his entire life to the establishment of the Armenian statehood, and he remains loyal to that dedication. As for the ongoing criminal proceedings, he views them within the general context of the prevailing legal nihilism in the country,' his statement reads.
