Zohrab Mnatsakanyan Meets with the Prime Minister of Lithuania
On an official visit to Lithuania, Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan was received by Lithuanian Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis on September 16. The Armenian Foreign Ministry's Information and Public Diplomacy Department reported this, noting that Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings and best wishes from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Prime Minister Skvernelis and Minister Mnatsakanyan positively assessed the established partnership relations between Armenia and Lithuania and the high level of dialogue at various levels, expressing confidence that there is mutual readiness to maintain this momentum and deepen cooperation.
Minister Mnatsakanyan pointed out that his visit to Vilnius provides a good opportunity to discuss the prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to outline further steps. In this context, they discussed the expansion of cooperation in electronic governance, information technologies, financial technologies, biotechnology, creative education, and other sectors, and the initiation and implementation of programs aimed at exchanging experiences between Armenia and Lithuania in these fields.
The head of Armenia's foreign policy agency presented to the Lithuanian Prime Minister the extensive reform agenda being implemented by the Armenian government.
Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis exchanged detailed thoughts on cooperation in the framework of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, in both bilateral and multilateral formats. In the context of promoting people-to-people contacts, Mnatsakanyan thanked Lithuania for its steadfast support in the dialogue on the liberalization of EU countries' visa regimes.
The Armenian Foreign Minister also drew the attention of his counterpart to the preparatory work for the World Congress on Information Technologies to be held in Armenia in 2019 and expressed hope that the Lithuanian government and leading companies would take an active part in the event.
In the context of regional issues, both sides emphasized the necessity of maintaining and strengthening regional peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
